Match Report : Llangennech v Ystradgynlais FC

Llangennech Youth 1 - 4 Ystradgynlais Youth

Today's challenge was to get our league campaign back on track. Wearing our brand new kit, we were hoping it would give us a bit of luck.

We started slow and was against the wind..Llangennech punished us after a series of nervous defending errors, we went 1-0 down. The boys heads were going and we were looking scrappy. One change at half time in the centre of midfield with Jamie Thyer ( signs of some decent form) replacing Lewis Jones and Cam Phillips ( todays man of the match) coming from the wing in to the centre to give us more energy and patience on the ball in the centre of the park. Scott Williams got the ball rolling with a nice cross from Cam 1-1. A few minutes later Cam crossed the ball again, this time Kyle Phillips got on the end of it. It was a good period of attack but then Jack Lloyd got sent off for violent conduct and we were down to 10 men. For the next 15 minutes we were settling down to 10 men but luckily Llangennech couldn't take advantage. Kyle went to Centre half and Antony "Scouse" Clarke played alone up front. The Liverpool man was a constant pain in the Llangennech back 4 and they done everything to take him down. He rolled tackle after tackle and won us loads of free kicks and got refused a penalty. His work was rewarded with a goal to make it 3-1. The last goal came from Antony Clarke doing all the hard work squaring it to the big man Kyle Phillips who put it away His seal celebration was very amusing to the travelling youth fans. 4-1. Lewi Bradford came on for an injured Cam Phillips with 5 minutes to go. And we sealed the win.

The youth were victors from yet another dog fight. The pitch didnt help. With long grass and it being a converted rugby pitch with part time goals. But it got us the 3 away points we wanted.
