Match Report : Ystradgynlais FC v Sandfields Utd

The boys gave everything today for a hard fought point. Best team we have played. Changed the back 4 after conceding 9 in 2 games. Worked well. Captain Kai Williams sorting the line out and taking responsibility alongside Conor, Jordan and Grenade providing some good muscle against a very strong Sandfields front 2. Great platform to build for our next game.
Holding players Jamie Thyer and Lewis Jones done well in the middle, and Cam Phillips did everything asked of him today and nicked the goal to make it 1-1.
Alfie ran his socks off, and Clarky was his usual self aggravating the ref and the back four who all stood a good 2 foot taller than him!! It was nice to see Joe Defritas in the team today, coming on as a second half sub for Ben, who has great ability but just needs to get his confidence back. Im sure it will come soon.
And well done to Jordan Patterson who's attitude to the squad is top notch and always shows how much he loves playing for the youth.
Man of the match was Mike Murphy, back in the goal and pulling off some top draw saves. Reminded me of Bruce Grobblar for those of you who remember. Absolutely outstanding. At times i thought he was a Russian acrobat with some of his saves!!
I apologise to the blue wall, for the lack of youth team match reports at the start of the season. Its been a dark start. Losing 3-4 to Clydach in a dog fight up the patch and throwing a 4-1 lead at seaside to lose 5-4.
Felt like the season turned around today. Boys got their rewards and stuck together well.
