FAW Announcement : 12/05/2020

By Gary Thomas

The FAW Board of Directors has ratified the curtailment of mini, junior and youth football leagues in Wales

Following a recommendation from the FAW’s Community Game Board, the FAW Board of Directors has ratified the curtailment of mini, junior and youth football leagues in Wales.

Meanwhile, the FAW’s National League Board has also taken the same decision with the academy football leagues.

As a result, this brings an end to the 2019/20 season with immediate effect due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The decision has been made with the health and safety of all those involved with these leagues of paramount importance.

A decision on the conclusion and method of ending the season will be discussed further by the FAW Board of Directors in due course and communicated to the Area Associations thereafter.

Of course, the above does not say what the method of conclusion will be, it simply affirms that no more football will be played in the 2019/20 season.

As soon as we have further news from the FAW regarding "the conclusion and method of ending the season" we will let you know.
